Break off from your cares and labours. Make a little time for God and rest a while in him.
St. Anselm
Would you like to deepen your relationship with God? Would you like to encounter God in a personal way through the Scriptures? Would you like to learn different ways of praying? If your answer is yes, we invite you to our upcoming Week of Guided Prayer.
The Week of Guided Prayer teaches you to pray using the Scriptures in the tradition of Ignatian Contemplation and Lectio Divina. You will also have a personal prayer guide to accompany you for a week on your spiritual journey.
You will be given a scripture passage every day that you will pray with on your own, using one of the two prayer methods. Your guide will then meet with you one-on-one for 30 minutes to hear about your prayer experiences and guide you each day.
The Week of Guided Prayer gives you an opportunity to go on a mini retreat without the need to go away or take leave from work. You will get to deepen your relationship with God while keeping to your daily routine.
Traditionally, pilgrims are people who journey to a sacred place for religious reasons. Our participants are ‘pilgrims’ who are journeying to encounter God by praying with Scripture.
HOW DOES THE WEEK OF GUIDED PRAYER WORK?
Sunday: Taster Session (In-Person):
-
Pilgrims meet their assigned prayer guides who will be journeying with them one-on-one during the Week.
-
Pilgrims learn the 2 prayer methods and practise them in small groups.
Monday - Friday: Guided Prayer Experience Sessions (In-Person/Online):
-
Pilgrims pray on their own with scriptures given by their personal prayer guides for 30 minutes daily and then journal their prayer experience.
-
Pilgrims meet their prayer guides at an agreed time, across four time slots - morning, afternoon, early evening or late evening for 30 minutes daily for sharing and guidance.
Saturday: Closing Session (In-Person):
-
Pilgrims share their takeaways and insights from the Week of Guided Prayer.
All sharings, in groups and during one-on-one sessions during the Week of Guided Prayer will be treated in the strictest confidence.
